In a world that constantly demands your attention, focus can feel fleeting. One moment you're clear, the next you're scattered. And if you're leading others while juggling meetings, strategies, expectations and performance – it's easy to lose sight of your own direction.
But what if focus isn’t about pushing yourself harder?
What if true focus is more like a prism – gathering light and directing it into a clear, powerful beam?

Sometimes you need support to find a new sense of focus.
When I started studying to become a software engineer, I was full of drive. But after failing all my exams in the first term, I was close to giving up. It wasn’t until a professor saw me – and offered support instead of judgement – that I began to understand how I needed to focus differently.
🔹 I didn’t need to fight harder.
🔹 I needed to focus differently.
With his support, I changed the way I studied, prioritised, and communicated. Eventually, I passed my first resit, then the second, and so on – until I had completely turned things around and achieved my goal of graduating. The amazing part? Three years into my studies, I found myself standing in a large lecture hall, in front of a new group of students. This time, I was the teacher. I could never have imagined that three years earlier – sitting there, questioning if I even belonged after yet another failed exam – I would end up here.
What I learned back then still stays with me today:
Focus isn’t about today’s to-do list. It’s about staying connected to your direction – and choosing what moves you forward.
My daily focus routine
Focus isn’t something you achieve once and for all. It’s something you return to – over and over again.
A simple yet powerful tool that helps me stay on course is 3-3-3-reflectionIt’s easy to get started with – and you can adapt it to fit your everyday life.
✨ 3-3-3-reflection
Write down:
- Three things you want to focus on today
→ What matters most right now? Not the thing that makes the most noise, but the thing that truly means something. - Three things you’re celebrating or grateful for
→ Even small steps count – they build energy and direction. - Three things that align with your long-term direction
→ It could be a thought, a step, or a reminder of how you want to show up in the world.
This exercise can be done daily or as a weekly reflection. It helps you find your footing – and remember:
“Yes, here I am. And yes, I’m moving forward.”
What does focus mean to you – right now?
Not in theory. Not six months from now. But today.
✨ What do you want to direct your energy towards this week?
It could be a decision. A new mindset. A concrete action that brings you closer to something you long for.
